Dhruv Rathee Set to Join Bengaluru Anti-SIR Protest

Bengaluru, October 8, 2026: YouTuber and political commentator Dhruv Rathee is set to participate in a protest in Bengaluru on Thursday over concerns surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Rathee has already reached Bengaluru, with organisers confirming his participation in the programme at Freedom Park.

Dhruv Rathee to Appear at Freedom Park

The protest has been organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and allied groups at Bengaluru's Freedom Park. The programme is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am and includes a People's Tribunal focused on the SIR exercise.

Organisers say the tribunal will provide a platform for people from different parts of Karnataka who claim they were affected during the electoral-roll revision process.

Rathee confirmed his participation through a social media video, while CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke also announced his presence ahead of the event.

Prakash Raj Had Announced Rathee's Participation

Actor and activist Prakash Raj had earlier revealed that Rathee would be the special guest at the Bengaluru gathering. In his announcement, Raj urged people to attend the Freedom Park event in large numbers.

The programme is also expected to bring together youth organisations, civil society representatives and people who say they have faced difficulties during the SIR-related electoral-roll process.

What Is the Protest About?

The Bengaluru mobilisation is centred on objections raised by organisers over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. They have alleged that eligible voters were wrongly removed from electoral lists and are seeking greater transparency in the revision process. These are the organisers' allegations and demands; the broader electoral process remains a matter of political and public debate.

A separate “Chappal Protest” is also planned after the People's Tribunal. According to organisers, the action is intended to highlight concerns involving women's safety and solidarity with women who have raised related grievances.

Delhi Protest Planned for October 10

The Bengaluru event is not the only planned mobilisation. Another protest has been announced at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10. Reports say Rathee has also urged people in Delhi to attend that programme.

Conclusion

The participation of Dhruv Rathee in Bengaluru has added significant attention to the anti-SIR mobilisation at Freedom Park. With Prakash Raj, Abhijeet Dipke and other activists expected to attend, the October 8 programme is likely to draw considerable public and media focus. The response to the organisers' demands will be closely watched following the event.
