New Delhi, September 10, 2026: Indian equity markets ended Thursday with modest gains after a volatile trading session. The Nifty 50 closed at 23,477.80, while the BSE Sensex settled at 74,902.59. The Bank Nifty closed at 56,471.95, gaining around 0.31%.

Nifty 50 Performance

The Nifty 50 gained 46.30 points or 0.20% during the session. The index recorded an intraday high of around 23,494.95 and a low of 23,380.10.

Sensex Performance

The Sensex advanced 138.36 points or 0.19% to close at 74,902.59. The market recovered from early weakness as selective buying emerged toward the end of the session.

Bank Nifty Performance

Bank Nifty ended at 56,471.95, up around 176.40 points or 0.31%.

Among Nifty 50 stocks, HCL Technologies fell 1.85%, Hindalco declined 1.26%, Tata Steel dropped 1.04%, Adani Enterprises slipped 0.89%, and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles declined 0.83%.

What Drove the Market?

The market remained cautious as geopolitical tensions pushed Brent crude above $102 per barrel. Higher crude prices and global uncertainty weighed on sentiment, while selective buying in financial and oil & gas stocks helped the benchmark indices finish higher.

Foreign institutional investors sold equities worth around ₹583 crore, while domestic institutional investors bought approximately ₹1,509 crore worth of equities.

Market Outlook

The September 10 session showed a mixed market trend. While Nifty and Sensex closed higher, the broader market remained under pressure, with Nifty Midcap 100 falling 0.38% and Nifty Smallcap 100 declining 0.07%.
