Share Market 23 September 2026: Nifty, Sensex and Bank Nifty Rise

New Delhi, September 23, 2026: Indian equity markets ended Wednesday on a positive note. The Nifty 50 gained 117.80 points or 0.50% to close at 23,446.80, while the BSE Sensex advanced 299.17 points or 0.40% to 74,828.25. The Bank Nifty closed at 56,548.90, up around 0.59%.

Nifty 50 Today

The Nifty 50 opened at 23,352.15 and finished at 23,446.80. Buying in metal, banking, FMCG, pharma and broader-market stocks supported the benchmark, while IT stocks remained under pressure.

Sensex Today

The Sensex opened at 74,648.32 and gained 299.17 points during the session to close at 74,828.25, registering a 0.40% rise.

Bank Nifty Today

The Bank Nifty ended at 56,548.90, gaining around 0.59% on September 23. Strength in banking stocks contributed to the broader market's positive performance.

Key Nifty Stocks

Among Nifty 50 stocks, Bajaj Finance and Hindalco were among the leading gainers. Larsen & Toubro and State Bank of India also advanced. On the weaker side, Titan, HCL Technologies, TCS, Sun Pharma and Infosys recorded declines.

Why Did the Market Rise?

The September 23 session was supported by buying across metal and financial stocks. Softer crude oil prices also provided some relief to Indian equities. However, the IT sector remained weak, with the Nifty IT index declining around 0.87%.
