Share Market Today 7 September 2026: Nifty, Sensex and Bank Nifty Fall

New Delhi, September 7, 2026: Indian stock markets ended lower on Monday as selling pressure hit IT and several other sectors. The Nifty 50 closed at 23,779.15, down 118.55 points or 0.50%, while the BSE Sensex fell 382.62 points to 76,132.81. The Bank Nifty closed at 57,088.30, down 281.35 points or 0.49%.

The market remained under pressure amid elevated crude oil prices, geopolitical concerns and renewed worries about US interest rates. IT stocks were among the biggest drags on the benchmarks.

The Nifty opened around 23,883 and touched an intraday high near 23,890 before closing at 23,779.15. Immediate technical support is being watched around 23,700, with resistance near 23,900.

Sensex Falls Over 380 Points

The Sensex declined 382.62 points as investors remained cautious. IT stocks were among the major losers, with Infosys falling 3.76%, while Tech Mahindra and TCS also declined.

Some stocks, including Bharat Electronics, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finance, showed relative strength and helped limit the broader market decline.

Bank Nifty Today

Bank Nifty ended at 57,088.30, down 281.35 points or 0.49%. The index opened around 57,343 and touched an intraday high of approximately 57,426.

Banking stocks delivered a mixed performance. ICICI Bank gained around 0.35%, while SBI declined about 1.09% and Axis Bank slipped around 0.45%.

The available Nifty 500 loser snapshot showed Zee Entertainment and PVR INOX among the weakest performers, while Infosys and other IT names also faced significant selling pressure.

By the later session, PVR INOX and Zee Entertainment remained among the notable decliners, while Infosys ended about 3.81% lower.
